Linear Metro System Introduced in Urban Transportation Meeting

A meeting on urban transportation issues was held at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) engineering department on February 29, 2007 in which Prof. S.N. Mahendra at BHU (A.K.A., “Father of Linear Induction Motor”) along with BHU’s Rector, Prof. S. Lele kindly greeted Mr. Masahiro Ando (A certified engineer at Japan Subway Association/Linear Metro System) and Dr. Vijay Kumar Jatiya (Manager at Funaken).

At the meeting, Prof. S.N. Mahendra presented over 30 years of his extensive research on Linear Induction Motor, therein he recommended Japan’s Linear Metro System for solving India’s urban transportation issues.  Also, Mr. Masahiro Ando undertook a video presentation on successful implementation cases of Linear Metro System in Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Fukuoka, Yokohama and Sendai in Japan.

Many engineering students at BHU also participated in the event.
